Frequently asked questions I am currently seeing a GP/Specialist for a particular condition. Is Nutritional Therapy appropriate?
Nutritional Therapy does not replace conventional medicine, however they work together very well as we will create a programme to support your treatment as given by your GP or Specialist. With your permission we can liaise with your doctor regarding your nutritional programme.
I am currently on prescription medication. Is Nutritional Therapy safe?
Nutritional Therapy can work safely alongside medication and in some cases can minimise any side effects. During the first consultation all medication is discussed in detail and if possible bring it along with you. With your permission we can liaise with your doctor regarding your nutritional programme. Medication must not be stopped without prior consent from your doctor.
How many appointments will I need?
This will depend on the reasons for seeking Nutritional support. In most cases 3-4 consultations is recommended although some clients need more or less than this.
How much does it cost?
Please see services and costs for this information.
Will I need to make a lot of dietary changes?
This will depend on your reasons for seeing nutritional support and your present diet. All changes will be discussed and explained in great detail and will be jointly agreed. It is often easier to make changes when the ‘why’ is explained and understood. We often find clients like to make small changes at any one time.
Will I need supplements?
At first the consultation is focused on dietary changes however supplements can be discussed if your symptoms would benefit from them. Supplements, if required, are often taken for the short term and their aim would be to support a specific nutritional need.
Do you see children?
Children are very welcome and we support them in a range of problems including asthma, eczema, digestive problems and allergies. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
How confidential is it?
All consultations are strictly confidential. Your information is held in accordance to BANT and NTOI rules, the two professional bodies that we are members of.
