Nutritional therapy uses carefully compiled individual diets and lifestyle tips in order to alleviate or manage illness and promote optimum health. Nutritional Therapists often work with two specific types of client: those who suffer with chronic illness that cannot be effectively managed or treated by traditional medicine; and those who quite simply wish to manage their illness by natural means.
Here at Total Nutrition, we work alongside both traditional medicine and holistic practitioners to ensure that we can offer the best health solution.
We have been trained in a ‘function’ way where the objective is to identify the underlying source of our client’s health problem rather than just solely dealing with the problem itself. Our approach is to restore balance across all the body’s systems and in so doing, to allow the body to return to a sense of ‘ease’ not ‘dis- ease’.
In assessing and developing an individual dietary programme we look at all aspects of health; history, genetics and lifestyle. Recommendations will include dietary and lifestyle changes which are jointly agreed. No changes will be made unless a client understands and agrees with them. Nutritional therapy is not about eating a restricted diet it is about finding foods that a client enjoys, providing practical advice and giving ongoing support to help clients make changes that will promote health, achieve a desired weight or achieve optimum health.
